WELCOME TO THE WEB DESIGN + BRANDING BLOG FROM ARTISAN KIND
When you’re getting ready to publish your first blog post, the images you choose play an important role in how polished, inviting and professional your content feels. The good news is that prepping your images doesn’t have to be complicated. With just one photo and one Pinterest graphic, you’ll have everything you need for a beautiful, strategic blog post.

Unless you’re a creative professional and you plan to showcase several images of your work inside the blog, we’ll keep things simple and use one main photo. This image will appear at the top of your blog post and can also be placed within the content if you’d like.
Choose something that feels clean, bright and relevant to your topic. It doesn’t need to be elaborate, it just needs to support your content and feel aligned with your brand.
You can use a mix of brand photos and thoughtfully chosen stock images for your blogs. While we’re keeping things simple with one image for this post, feel free to use either option for future blog posts.
Now that you have your image selected, you’ll turn that main image into a second graphic: a Pinterest-sized image with your blog title on it. This will also appear in your blog post.
A Pinterest graphic is simply a vertical version of your main photo with your blog title added over the top. Canva has beautiful free templates that make this incredibly easy. Choose a template you like, upload your photo, add your title, update your fonts and colors to match your brand (refer to your brand guidelines PDF for this if you’re my client), download the image and you’ve got what you need.
Even if you’re not using Pinterest to market your business, your clients are likely Pinterst users. They’re on Pinterest for all sorts of reasons, to find inspiration, ideas, tips, recipes, planning and everything in between. So when they come across a blog post of yours they love, there’s a good chance they’ll want to save it for later to one of their Pinterest boards.
That’s where your Pinterest-sized image becomes incredibly helpful.
If you’re a client of mine, we already have a Pinterest “save” button on your blog, so when a reader clicks it, it pulls up Pinterest automatically and asks the person pinning the blog to choose an image from your article to use as the pin. If you already have a Pinterest-sized graphic ready, it becomes the obvious choice.
Once someone saves your pin, it becomes discoverable to other Pinterest users. That means more people can find your blog, save it and return to your content in the future. Having your blog title on the image also helps those Pinterest users understand what your post is about before they even click.
It’s a small step with an amazing ripple effect.
If you’re already a client of mine, once your images are ready, upload them to your shared Google Drive folder. During your Showit Tour, I’ll walk you through posting your blog step-by-step, including exactly where and how to add your images. Your tour is recorded so you can revisit the process anytime.
