WELCOME TO THE WEB DESIGN + BRANDING BLOG FROM ARTISAN KIND
“I’m doing the marketing I knew I needed to. I even knew HOW to do it but just didn’t because I was embarrassed by how it all looked.”
Brand photographer Lauren Mudrock pulled together her savings to purchase her first DSLR camera six and a half years ago. Her late Poppop encouraged her to do so (as he did with all of her artistic endeavors), even counting his quarters with her to ensure she had enough to make the big purchase.
She always had a hunch that headshots and work with business owners was the path meant for her, but doubt kept her from it at first. After a period of time in wedding photography, Lauren felt called to take a different path. Maybe the butterfly that landed on her lens at that first wedding she photographed was a sign (her Poppop she was certain), but she took the needed step back to reassess. Lauren later moved forward with what had always felt aligned for her heart… brand photography. The ability to help business owners align with their hearts as well.
Lauren is a bright soul with a kind and youthful lens for life. She cares deeply about connecting with others and keeping things light and enjoyable. While her fur child, Tucker is her number one, her caring nature spreads to each and every client. Lauren is passionate about genuinely listening to others. “We’re all a bit emotionally malnourished” she says. She believes when you listen to others, when you encourage them, you leave a ripple effect in their life and in the world.
Our challenge was to create a brand identity that reflected all of these passions and qualities. Up until this point Lauren never felt like her work as a photographer was good enough. She didn’t feel that her makeshift, DIY brand was speaking to her credibility or her professionalism.
“I knew I wasn’t competing with other photographers because my online presence looked like I didn’t take it seriously.”
She wanted her clients to walk away believing they were beautiful, funny, and attractive in all the ways they ever wanted to be. The real deal with the right tools to confidently move forward in their business. But in order to get there she needed a way to welcome those clients into her brand first.
As we created her new identity we focused on three goals: bold, welcoming, and sophisticated.
These goals were achieved through a bold color palette made of Goldenrod yellow, blue sapphire, and sizzling red. Red being the color of life, blue the color of inspiration and freedom, and gold the color of prosperity….all things she helps her photography clients achieve.
One of our favorite additions to her design was a pineapple icon in her logo. Pineapples have a long history symbolizing friendship and hospitality. Ancient peoples would hang pineapples from their entryways to make the space welcoming to guests. So we metaphorically hung one atop her new branding.
After launching her new brand to the world Lauren quickly realized that her work as a photographer was never the problem. It was simply the design surrounding her brand. Now she works with more confidence than ever attracting the clients she dreamed of all along.
