WELCOME TO THE WEB DESIGN + BRANDING BLOG FROM ARTISAN KIND
When Sarah came to me with her vision for Serendipity’s Cup, she already had a direction in mind. But after working with another business, she realized that vision wasn’t translating the way she’d hoped. There was a gap between what she imagined and what was being created.
This is the most common challenge I see with entrepreneurs starting a coffee shop: they have a clear feeling for what they want their brand to be, but sometimes struggle to articulate it. When the vision isn’t crystal clear, it can easily be misinterpreted. The result is a brand that feels misaligned.
Creating a visual identity for your coffee shop isn’t just about making something pretty. It’s about telling customers who you are before they even walk in. When that’s done well, it attracts the type of clients you dream of serving. When it misses the mark, you lose that opportunity entirely. A designer who understands your vision can create a brand that speaks directly to your ideal customers.
Sarah’s initial direction was heading toward something that didn’t match her or her actual business. In fact, it gave totally different vibes than the physical coffee shop would have.
Here’s what I learned after years of doing brand work: my job isn’t to recreate what’s already in a client’s head. My job is to listen deeply to their vision, then filter it through my creative lens.
So we started fresh. Sarah filled out a detailed brand questionnaire that dug into not just what her coffee shop looked like, but who she was, what made her different, and how she wanted customers to feel when they walked in.
From those feelings, I developed a different direction. One that honored her original instinct but elevated it into something more strategic and intentional.
The Transformation
When I presented Sarah’s new brand design to her, I told her upfront that it was different from what she’d originally pictured.
After Sarah saw her new brand design, she literally clapped for joy. It was the vibe she’d been feeling all along but couldn’t quite articulate. Everything finally felt aligned.
The new brand is calming, feminine, inviting, and just whimsical enough while still feeling elevated. It’s her vision, brought to life in a way she couldn’t quite see for herself.
What This Brand Does for Serendipity’s Cup
Her brand is now showing people exactly what it feels like to step into Serendipity’s Cup. She’s already using it across her social media, and it’s creating anticipation ahead of her physical location opening. The visual consistency communicates that this isn’t just another coffee shop. It’s a thoughtfully designed experience.
On her upcoming website, her branding will echo that vibe. Customers will land on a site that matches what they felt on Instagram and experience at the physical location.
This kind of custom branding matters. Not because you don’t have good ideas, but because a creative partner can take those ideas, hold them with care, and show you a version that feels unmistakably yours.
Sometimes you don’t know what your coffee shop brand needs until someone shows it to you. And when it’s right, you feel it immediately.
If you’re dreaming about a brand but can’t quite see it yet, or you know what you want but don’t know how to say it out loud, I’m here for that. I work with entrepreneurs, coaches and service providers who trust that there’s something good waiting to be discovered. Let’s find it together.
