WELCOME TO THE WEB DESIGN + BRANDING BLOG FROM ARTISAN KIND
Dr. Heather Rothbauer-Wanish, owner of Feather Communications has been transforming the confidence and professional presentation of her clients since 2008.
She has written thousands of resumes and cover letters that landed individuals in perfectly aligned careers (some within two weeks of handing over her polished pages.).
What began as a $20 resume markup and a thank you dinner has grown into a successful communications business catering to a vast number of career paths. Heather excitedly shared that she’s worked on resumes for just about every letter of the alphabet…”A-Z: from accountant to zookeeper!”
With hopes of growing a bigger team and expanding her word wisdom to even more clients across the U.S, Heather connected with me to elevate her brand presence.
We settled on two main goals for her brand identity: Professional and Approachable.
15 years of resume writing experience coupled with extensive education has helped heather build up quite a bit of professional credibility and trust. Though she’s quick to add that the titles behind her name don’t define her personality. She’s a family-centered, community-involved, and caring human, just like her clients. We really wanted to convey this sense of approachability in her design, especially in a field with a stereotype for being “stuffy.”
The name “feather communications” has dual symbolism. Not only was “feather” part of a child-hood nickname, it also represents that timeless appeal of a feather pen (and Heather’s preference for hand-writing drafts). We incorporated the feather icon in her logo to represent the personal touch that goes into each project.
Her brand colors feature deep purples of eggplant and elderberry alongside warm mocha neutrals. This rich palette of secondary colors creates a sense of contemplation (a writer’s best state) and leadership which all tie into our professionalism brand trait. The professional quality is enhanced by clean brush stroke textures and a smokey marble pattern.
Resumes should make a great first impression upon first glance, and websites are no different. For heather’s custom website design we really focused on a clean and professional look that took advantage of bold headings and lots of white space. Smiling and work-in-progress brand photos create an approachable feeling and add trust to this highly personalized service.
With a new home for her updated brand in place, Heather can dig even deeper into her work of building confidence for her clients, of finding just the right words to describe their career story.
